Acupunture

About the service

Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain.

Thin needles are inserted into the body, this in turn releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain.

These biochemical changes may stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

Acupuncture needle insertion for pain relief and wellness.

FAQs

What is acupuncture?

A traditional Chinese medicine technique involving very thin, sterile needles inserted into specific body points to stimulate natural healing processes. Addresses pain, stress, hormonal imbalances, and overall wellness.

Stimulates nerves, muscles, and connective tissue, triggering endorphin release and neurochemical responses that reduce pain, decrease inflammation, regulate hormones, and promote self-healing.

Chronic and acute pain, migraines, stress and anxiety, insomnia, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, menstrual irregularities, fertility support, allergies, and fatigue. WHO recognizes acupuncture for dozens of conditions.

Almost anyone. Particularly suited for chronic pain, stress-related conditions, sleep problems, hormonal issues, or those seeking drug-free wellness approaches.

Needles are incredibly thin — much thinner than injection needles. Most feel little to no pain. Some experience mild tingling or warmth. Many find it deeply relaxing and fall asleep during sessions.

45 to 60 minutes including consultation, needle placement, a 20-30 minute rest period, and removal.

Acute issues: one to three sessions. Chronic conditions: six to twelve sessions. Many transition to monthly maintenance. Consistency is key.

Some experience relief after the first session. Chronic conditions generally require four to six sessions for meaningful results.

No downtime. Some feel deeply relaxed or slightly drowsy. Avoid intense exercise and alcohol for a few hours post-treatment.

Rare and mild — slight bruising at needle sites, mild soreness, temporary lightheadedness. Serious complications extremely rare with a licensed practitioner.

Very safe with licensed practitioners using sterile, single-use needles. Provided in Dr Refresh Med Spa’s medically supervised environment.

Drug-free, non-invasive approach that avoids pharmaceutical side effects and surgical risks. Addresses underlying imbalances rather than masking symptoms.

Absolutely. Activates the parasympathetic nervous system, lowers cortisol, and stimulates endorphin and serotonin release.

Before: eat a light meal, wear loose clothing. After: drink water, avoid caffeine and alcohol for a few hours, allow quiet time.
